The latest issue of DaySpa magazine regales the scientic benefits of saunas.
“Europeans have soaked themselves in saunas for centuries, utilizing the heat therapy for cleansing and relaxation. While regular sauna-goers may tout the skin benefits, until recently they had no science to back those claims. But there’s finally scientific proof that regular sauna use leads to a more stable epidermall barrier function, an increase in stratum corneum hydration, and faster recovery of water loss and skin pH, according to a recent study in Dermatology. Researchers at the University of Jena in Germany say the heart and skin benefits are akin to exercising–the more frequently you do it, the greater the benefits.”
Wow…a nice, relaxing spa experience sounds good about right now.
